BA Students Use Their Creative Voices To Inspire Change

BA Graphics & Illustration graduates Aleks and Mckenzie approached their final third year project with a vision to inspire change through their combined creative talents. Collaborating together, they are seeking to educate the public and beat the stigma around the need to use food banks.

鈥淥ur project is based around a campaign for Cambridge City Foodbank鈥 explained Aleks. 鈥淲e鈥檙e doing it on breaking the stereotypes and teaching people that it鈥檚 alright to use a foodbank if you need it and it鈥檚 alright to ask for help.鈥

Through their individual creative methods, students at 新澳门六合彩开奖 are encouraged to explore and comment on social and cultural issues affecting people, communities and the world, shining a light on these issues and using their art as a catalyst for change. Aleks and Mackenzie鈥檚 project is a clear example of that ethos.

鈥淭he reason we chose this project is because in general our art is pretty playful and quite colourful, and to contrast that we wanted to pick a topic that is quite serious. We love working with the community, so we wanted to focus on a serious topic now. Since we鈥檙e in Cambridge and with the cost of living鈥he more we researched into it, the more we realised how little there is out there on foodbanks.鈥

Below are some of the final outcomes from their project, incorporating colourful illustration and purposeful typography.

At 新澳门六合彩开奖, we offer three visual arts undergraduate courses: BA(Hons) Graphic Design, BA(Hons) Illustration and BA(Hons) Visual Communication.

Our students thrive through a hands-on-approach learning experience. We do not teach a 鈥榟ouse style鈥, instead every student is encouraged to explore their unique and individual style, voice and approach for a more tailored experience. As highlighted by both Aleks and Mckenzie, this is achieved through our small class sizes which allow extensive contact time with our lecturers and frequent one-to-one tuition and support.
